During the fifth round, LesPierre scored a knockdown when he landed a straight shot on Pedraza's body. And a moment later it was Pedraza who scored a knockdown when he clipped LesPierre with a counter.

Before the start of the sixth, it was ruled that LesPierre's knockdown did not count because Pedraza tripped when the replay was displayed. In the seventh and eight, Pedraza went back to his boxing and was controlling all of the action and cut LesPierre above the right eye. LesPierre tried to hang in there in the ninth, but Pedraza was too good for him with his boxing ability.
