MGM Grand Conference Center - Former two division world champion Jose Pedraza (27-3, 13 KOs) was dominant in his ten round unanimous decision win over Mikkel LesPierre (22-2-1, 10 KOs).
The scores were 100-88, 99-89, 99-89.
Pedraza controlled the first round with his boxing. In the second, Pedraza was unloading with punches as LesPierre was pinned against the ropes and did nothing but hold his guard up.
In the third, Pedraza was in full control and appeared to buzz LesPierre in the closing moments. More of the same in the fourth, with Pedraza outlanding and outworking LesPierre.
During the fifth round, LesPierre scored a knockdown when he landed a straight shot on Pedraza's body. And a moment later it was Pedraza who scored a knockdown when he clipped LesPierre with a counter.
Before the start of the sixth, it was ruled that LesPierre's knockdown did not count because Pedraza tripped when the replay was displayed. In the seventh and eight, Pedraza went back to his boxing and was controlling all of the action and cut LesPierre above the right eye. LesPierre tried to hang in there in the ninth, but Pedraza was too good for him with his boxing ability.
In the first minute of the tenth, a combination of punches dropped LesPierre for the second time. LesPierre was able to last the distance, but got punished as Pedraza was working him over with hard shots.
