Anaheim, California - In crossroads middleweight battle, former world champion Jaime Munguia (38-0, 30 KOs) was firing with both hands all night to win a twelve round unanimous decision over Gabe Rosado (26-14-1, 15 KOs) in a war.
The scores were 118-110, 119-109 and 117-111.
The fight began with Munguia pumping a jab to the head and body of Rosado. Munguia was showing off his quick hands and rapid combinations from the start. In the second, Rosado was doing a little better, but Munguia was unloading with a lot of jabs and combinations.
In the third, Rosado was doing well with counters as Munguia was coming in. Rosado was jabbing away with Munguia. Neary the end Munguia was unloading with his punches, with Rosado digging to the body. Rosado was standing his ground more often in the fourth, but Munguia was more than willing to fire back and fight fire with fire. It was bombs away for most of the round.
Both were picking their shots in the fifth, with Munguia having the edge. Munguia was firing off rapid shots in the sixth and Rosado landed a big right hand. Munguia continued to fire off with big combinations. During the seventh, Munguia went right after Rosado, who did well with accurate punches and it was real grueling round as the punches were flying.
Munguia was firing with both hands at the start of the eight. He was digging to Rosado's body. During the round, a right hand seemed to rock Munguia and had him on unsteady legs at the end of the round. Munguiai began the ninth with more rapid combinations to push Rosado back. Munguia was outworking Rosado for much of the round. Rosado really came on in the closing moments.
Heavy punches exchanged by both at the start of the tenth. Rosado landed a big right that Munguia took and fired back with some of his own. Munguia was outworking and outlanding Rosado for much of the round, with Rosado once again landing a big right in the closing moments. At the start of the eleventh, Munguia was unloading with punches and was looking to put Rosado away. Rosado was able to weather the storm. Rosado was looking for counters, with Munguia punching and punching away as Rosado was holding to stop the assault.
No stop to Munguia's engine in the twelfth. He was unleashing punches from all angles. Rosado was doing his best and he was still trying to connect with his own big shots. They were trading for much of the final minute.
