Photos: Anthony Dirrell, David Benavidez - Set For WBC Title Clash

Shawn Porter didn’t have to cut off any of his hair to make weight this time. The WBC welterweight champion made weight on his first try Friday for his 147-pound title unification fight against Errol Spence Jr. Porter weighed exactly 147 pounds when he got on the California State Athletic Commission’s scale at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown hotel. Spence stepped on the CSAC’s scale at 147 pounds, too, for their 12-rounder Saturday night at Staples Center.

Porter officially weighed in at 146¾ pounds for that 12-round fight. Las Vegas’ Porter beat Cuba’s Ugas (24-4, 11 KOs) by split decision March 9 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Just before Porter and Spence made weight, WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell and former WBC champ David Benavidez met their contractual obligations for their 12-round, 168-pound title bout on the Spence-Porter undercard.
