Pedro Campa: record, next fight and profile →
Francisco 'Verdugo' Pérez withstood the first round simply because there wasn't much activity by either boxer, but as soon as the second round began - top junior welterweight contender Jose 'Chon' Zepeda took over the entire contest when he let his hands go.
Top rated junior welterweight Jose “Chon” Zepeda will headline a boxing card presented by Zanfer, Unión Promotions and 2M Promotions on Saturday, March 19, at the “Josué Neri Santos” Municipal Gym in Ciudad Juárez, in an event that will be broadcast live by Azteca 7.
The function will be headlined by Pedro “Roca” Campa (32-1-1, 22 ko's), who in a 10-round super lightweight duel, will seek his second win of the year, after having surpassed Venezuelan Carlos “Profeta” Cárdenas in February.
LAS VEGAS – Jose Zepeda was more than surprised when his handlers informed him that the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to approve Pedro Campa as his upcoming opponent.
Jose Zepeda needs a new opponent for his May 22 fight in Las Vegas. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the Nevada State Athletic Commission won’t allow Zepeda to fight Pedro Campa on the Jose Ramirez-Josh Taylor undercard that night. Top Rank Inc., Bob Arum’s promotional company, announced Zepeda-Campa as the co-feature on the Ramirez-Taylor card April 1.
Jose “Chon” Zepeda will battle Mexican veteran Pedro Campa in a 10-round junior welterweight battle Saturday, May 22, which will serve as the co-feature to the undisputed junior welterweight world title bout between WBC/WBO champion Jose Ramirez and IBF/WBA champion Josh Taylor.
Jose Zepeda is set to return from his epic knockout of Ivan Baranchyk. BoxingScene.com has learned that Zepeda will oppose Pedro Campa in a 10-round junior welterweight match May 22 in Las Vegas. ESPN will televise the bout between Zepeda (33-2, 26 KOs, 2 NC), of La Puente, California, and Campa (32-1-1, 21 KOs), of Hermosillo, Mexico, as its co-feature before Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor square off in the 12-round main event for the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO 140-pound championships.
Alan David “Rey” Picasso exploited his forcefulness, with one of those one-punch knockouts, when he faced Jesús Adrian “Topitos” Gomez. Picasso closed the show in the second round, in the main event of a card that was staged by Zanfer and 2M Promotions at the Jardines del Pedregal event room, in Hermosillo.
Although Showtime and Premier Boxing Champions have not yet announced their Feb. 13 tripleheader it has already seen major changes. Former four-division world titlist Adrien Broner, who has not boxed since a one-sided decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in a January 2019 secondary welterweight world title bout, is still due to return in the junior welterweight main event of a card likely to take place inside the bubble of the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The Still Adjusting To Fame tour will now include a pre-Valentine’s Day treat. Former four-division titlist Adrien Broner is deep in training camp for a planned showdown versus Mexico’s Pedro Campa, multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com. The bout will take place Feb. 13 atop a Showtime Championship Boxing (SCB) telecast at a location to be determined.
