WBO lightweight world champion Jose 'Sniper' Pedraza is already preparing hard for his unification with Vasyl Lomachenko, who is current champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
The contest takes place on December 8th at the Hulu Theater of Madison Square Garden in New York.
"Jose has already completed two weeks of training. We are going to start by going to the body earlier than normal. That way we gain time and we can enter the strong stage even faster," said trainer Luis Espada to Carlos Gonzalez.
During the first week, Pedraza gave free rein to the morning runs, and then physical work in the afternoon.
"This week we started with more specific things. We have scheduled to travel to Nebraska on October 11 to be at the fight of Terence Crawford and take the opportunity to meet with the people of Top Rank," specified Espada.
Then, the group will move to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the bulk of the camp until the week before the event that will be broadcast live on ESPN.
"We want to be in Las Vegas by mid-October. Move to the Top Rank gym will be important because we know we have to be well focused on the strategies to make a great fight and get a great victory," said Espada.
"There is no fear of overtraining because that is something that we watch very hard. I prefer to extend the period a bit without having to overload it. "
The coach said that in order to dominate Lomachenko, his pupil will need an impeccable strategy if he wishes to succeed.
"For this fight we need explosiveness and speed. We are going to need individuals to make Jose work in those aspects. Lomachenko arrives in easy, but before an opponent like Pedraza, who is skillful and intelligent, it will not be easy for him," Espada said.
