Two division world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza could be back in the ring as early as next May.

Luis Espada, father and trainer of the Puerto Rican fighter, revealed that he has had conversations about possible comeback scenarios.

Pedraza was in action back in December, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Vasiliy Lomachenko in their WBO, WBA lightweight unification clash.

One of the possible fights being discussed with Pedraza, is a confrontation against Teofimo López, an opponent who brings little appeal to the Puerto Rican boxer's team.

They see no upside in beating an undefeated, rising contender in Lopez - unless there is something of worth at stake.

"The question we have to ask ourselves is what can he bring to the table? To our judgment, nothing. If he wants to use us as a ladder to climb up, he's wrong, "Espada reacted to Carlos Gonzalez. "We're going to look upwards and not answer the call to help elevate someone else.

"It seems that Teofimo thinks that since José looked good against Lomachenko, he can use him to make a name for himself. The only way he would be attractive for us is if there is a title at stake."

Lopez (12-0) demolished former world title challenger Diego Magdaleno (31-2) on Saturday night in Frisco, Texas. Now that Lopez out victorious, it could be part of the April 20 undercard to Terence Crawdford's defense of the WBO welterweight title against Amir Khan.

Lopez is ninth in the rankings of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and, in turn, eleventh in the World Boxing Council (WBC), as well as in the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

"José started with some roadwork because we thought that we could square something together for a return in March, but since it has not been done we are mulling a possibility to fight in May," Espada said.
