Paddy Barnes was taken to hospital in the wake of his world title defeat.

Barnes took on the Nicaraguan and was attempting to snag his WBC world flyweight title in front of a boisterous Windsor Park crowd in Belfast, exclusively live on BT Sport.

But a body shot in the fourth round, which he failed to rise from, put paid to such dreams being made reality as a delighted Rosales kept hold of his title.

‘The Leprechaun’ returned to ringside to watch Tyson Fury’s comprehensive 100 points to 90 shutout win over Francesco Pianeta, as the former world heavyweight king set up a showdown with WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

However, a doctor checked him over shortly after and immediately called for a stretcher, with Barnes heading away in the direction of the exits.

It is unclear at this stage just what the condition of Barnes is, but Boxing Scene understands that he will remain in hospital overnight for observation.
