Omar Figueroa: record, next fight and profile →
Adrien Broner may have a few losses on his boxing record, but as far as the former titlist is concerned, he is undefeated when it comes to life. In a recent interview, the flamboyant boxer from Cincinnati flatout rejected the perception that his upcoming fight against Omar Figueroa Jr. has a redemptive, win-or-go-home, tinge to it. Broner’s reasoning? Redemption is for losers.
Adrien Broner took exception Thursday to the implication that he is anything resembling old. Broner made his pro debut in May 2008, but the four-weight world champion will only turn 33 next week. His opponent on August 20, Omar Figueroa Jr., is just four months younger than Broner, thus he doesn’t understand why reporters questioned him as if he were the second coming of Bernard Hopkins.
Adrien Broner lasted less than two minutes Tuesday on the initial virtual press conference for his August 20 fight against Omar Figueroa Jr.
Four-division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner will make his return against all-action former world champion Omar “Panterita” Figueroa in a 12-round super lightweight showdown headlining action live on Showtime on Saturday, August 20 from Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. in a Premier Boxing Champions event.
Adrien Broner and Omar Figueroa Jr. have a date, a site and a network for their previously announced welterweight fight. BoxingScene.com has learned that Showtime will broadcast Broner-Figueroa as the main event of a tripleheader August 20 from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Broner and Figueroa announced on their social media platforms last month that they agreed to box, but they initially indicated that they would square off July 23 somewhere in Chicago.
Cuban sensation and unbeaten WBA Super Middleweight Champion David O. Morrell Jr. will defend his title against undefeated challenger Mario Cazares in a 12-round duel that headlines FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Sunday, June 27 from The Armory in Minneapolis.
Carson, California - welterweight contender Abel Ramos (27-4-2, 21 KOs) delivered an impressive performance in stopping former champion Omar “Panterita” Figueroa Jr. (28-2-1, 19 KOs) after six-rounds in their WBA Welterweight Title Eliminator.
Abel Ramos brutalized Omar Figueroa Jr. on Saturday night. Ramos repeatedly hurt Figueroa to his head and body until the former WBC lightweight champion couldn’t take it anymore. Joel Diaz, Figueroa’s trainer, stopped their scheduled 12-round WBA welterweight elimination match after Figueroa took a lot of punishment in the sixth round on the Andy Ruiz Jr.-Chris Arreola undercard at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Omar Figueroa Jr. and Abel Ramos have every intention of stealing the show in a venue known for generating instant classics. The welterweight clash has been pegged as one to watch as part of a four-fight Fox Sports Pay-Per-View event that takes place this Saturday from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The site was still known as StubHub Center when Figueroa enjoyed his last win as a lightweight titlist, outlasting Mexico City’s Daniel Estrada to earn a 9th round knockout in their Aug. 2014 shootout.
