Dangerous 154-pound contender Carlos Ocampo is confident in his ability to score a knockout victory over WBO interim-junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu.

The two will collide on Sunday in Australia (Saturday night in the United States), with Showtime televising the bout live.

Tszyu has been patiently waiting for his mandatory shot at undisputed world champion Jermell Charlo.

Their fight been continuously pushed back, due to a severe hand injury suffered by Charlo in training camp.

Tszyu picked up a big win back in March, when he stopped former WBC world champion Tony Harrison - who still remains as the only fighter to defeat Charlo.

The Australian star is a huge favorite to win his upcoming assignment.

Ocampo, who holds a size advantage and has some punching power, is not intimidated by facing Tszyu on home soil.

Tszyu's legendary father, Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, was undefeated against Mexican opponents - a statistic that Ocampo feels is irrelevant to his fight.

“I know about him [Kostya] and what he’s done,” Ocampo told Fox Spots Australia. “But Tim is not his father. The father was a lot stronger. Had a lot more knockout power. So this is going to be a very different outcome.”

Tszyu has predicted another stoppage victory - this time in five rounds.

Ocampo certainly expects a knockout ending - but he cautions that Tszyu is going to be the one to get stopped inside the distance.

“Doesn’t scare me at all. If anything it could go the other way, so be ready. I have the power to knock him out and I’m taking that title back to Mexico," Ocampo said.

Ocampo has two defeats on his record. A tough twelve round decision loss to Sebastian Fundora in 2022. And a first round knockout loss to welterweight world champion Errol Spence in 2018. Ocampo has won 13 of his last 14 bouts.
