At the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, WBA interim-super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15KOs) knocked out late-replacement Manuel Vargas (26-5, 11KOs) in three rounds.

Donaire looked like a giant compared to Vargas. Donaire started pushing forward with the jab and the hard right hand. Donaire had every advantage and Vargas could not get off with anything. Donaire was too big, his hands were too long and his shots were too fast. He shook Vargas with a left hook in the middle of the round.

In the second Vargas was able to get a nice left in but Donaire started landing hard rights that pushed Vargas back hard. In the third, Donaire was unloading to the head and body. During an exchange, Donaire landed a massive uppercut to knock Vargas out cold for the full count.
