Nathan Cleverly has vowed to beat Tommy Karpency "and look good doing it" in his homecoming bout in Cardiff next month.

Promoter Frank Warren has planned a big year for Welsh star Nathan Cleverly that could include a title defence at Cardiff City's ground in the summer followed by a unification showdown in September.

Joe Calzaghe has advised WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly to forget about a unification showdown with American great Bernard Hopkins. Calzaghe believes Hopkins, who celebrates his 47th birthday next week, wants a big-name opponent for final payday.

WBO World Light-Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly will make his homecoming title defence against American Tommy Karpency on Saturday 25th February.

Hall of Fame promoter Don Chargin, advisor for World Boxing Association ("WBA") and International Boxing Association ("IBA") light heavyweight World champion Beibut Shumenov, has responded to a press release issued by Frank Warren Promotions that claimed Shumenov turned down a unification offer to fight World Boxing Organization ("WBO") titlist Nathan Cleverly. The press release announced that Cleverly will be defending his WBO title February 25 against Tommy Karpency in Wales. It also claimed: An offer went to WBA title-holder Beibut Shumenov to face Cleverly, but he said he would not be ready in time - although it could happen later this year.

Nathan Cleverly believes fellow Welshman Lee Selby (12-1, 4KOs) can follow in his footsteps and become a world champion. Selby burst onto the domestic scene when he ripped the British featherweight title from Stephen Smith with an eighth round knockout in September. The 24-year-old then became the first man to stop John Simpson this month and Cleverly feels Selby has already shown he has the potential to reach the top.

Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11KOs) is in talks over a summer unification fight with Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32KOs). The unbeaten WBO light heavyweight boxing champion is set to defend his belt on February 25 against an opponent yet to be confirmed, but is already eyeing a clash with the WBC king and, at 46, the oldest world champion in history. Hopkins has been ordered to fight Chad Dawson again after a controversial no-contest in October, but Cleverly, 24, could fight Hopkins before or after.

WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11KOs) is hoping Carl Froch (28-0, 20KOs) moves up to 175-pounds by end of 2012 for a big domestic showdown. Cleverly defends his title on February 25th in Cardiff. No opponent has been set. Coming off his decision loss to Andre Ward, Froch's promoter is currently negotiating a possible two deal with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute. Froch has expressed an interest in exploring a possible move to 175 in the near future.

WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly believes he is still some distance away from reaching his full potential. Cleverly will defend his title for the third time against an as yet confirmed opponent on February 25 in Cardiff. One of the names which has been mentioned as a possible future opponent is veteran WBC light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins. But Hopkins, 46, first faces a rematch against Chad Dawson, after their previous fight in October was ruled a no-contest.
