If Tenshin Nasukawa is as calm in the ring when he encounters Floyd Mayweather Jr. as he was in responding to Conor McGregor’s racist comments, maybe the 20-year-old kickboxer actually will have a chance against the bigger, better Mayweather.
Japan’s Nasukawa took to Twitter on Tuesday to address McGregor referring to him as a “little pr*ck” and “Jackie f***ing Chan” in a dismissive Instagram post Monday.
“Hello, Mr. McGregor,” Nasukawa wrote. “My Name is Tenshin Nasukawa. I am not Jackie Chan. I promise to avenge your loss, so please watch my fight. @TheNotoriousMMA”
Las Vegas’ Mayweather, 41, has agreed to come out of retirement a third time to face Nasukawa on December 31 in Saitama, Japan. The rules for their fight and the weight at which it will be contested haven’t been announced.
Sources have indicated to BoxingScene.com that Mayweather-Nasukawa will be a three-round boxing exhibition that won’t count on Mayweather’s perfect record (50-0, 27 KOs).
Nasukawa is 27-0, including 20 knockouts, as a professional kickboxer. He also is 4-0 in mixed martial arts matches (two KOs, one submission).
Like McGregor before he met Mayweather, however, Nasukawa has never participated in a professional boxing match. Mayweather beat McGregor by 10th-round technical knockout in a 154-pound boxing match 14 months ago at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Their common ground aside, Nasukawa’s resume doesn’t impress McGregor. The polarizing UFC superstar couldn’t resist trashing Mayweather and Nasukawa on Monday once he learned about their fight.
“Is that a tracksuit or a sauna suit Floyd haha wtf,” McGregor wrote on Instagram in reference to a photo of Mayweather and Nasukawa standing side-by-side. “Is it hot in Tokyo or what’s the story here? That climate change is no joke f*** me hahah.
“What in the f*** is going on here? Who’s this little pr*ck next to you? That’s mad sh*t. Like something out of rush hour 5 or something. Chris tucker and Jackie f***ing Chan back in this b*tch. F*cking brilliant. Mad little bastard you are Floyd. Fair f***s to you mate. No lie. F*** it.”
