International Convention Centre, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa - In his first defense of the IBO flyweight title, Moruti Mthalane (31-2, 20KOs) retained the title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Mexico's Odilon Zaleta (15-5, 8 KOs). The scores were 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111.
Mthalane captured the title in March with a twelve round split decision over Jether Oliva. The South African boxer has been rebuilding his career since suffering a knockout loss in six at the hands of Nonito Donaore in 2008. So far he's won eight in a row.
