New York - Trainer Robert Garcia has been in four camps and now onto a third fight with his WBC junior welterweight world champion Jose Ramirez (24-0, 16 KO’s).

Ramirez’s next fight will be his biggest and toughest to date.

On July 27th, Ramirez will travel to Texas as he intends on unifying his WBC title with Maurice Hooker’s (26-0, 17 KO’s) WBO title on the streaming service DAZN.

Garcia sees this fight as a being what the sport is all about.

“To unify is what this sport is about, Garcia told BoxingScene.com “It’s a great opportunity for both fighters especially the winner. Champions fighting champions are the best fights in boxing. We want our fighters to be in the fights.”

Last time Garcia was on the big stage, he was training his brother Mikey Garcia as he moved up to 147 to fight Errol Spence Jr. Garcia lost a lopsided decision.

Although 147 is not where he wants to see his brother, if the big fights are there Mikey (39-1, 30 KO’s) will go where the fights are.

“As of right now Mikey is already training,” stated the trainer. “There’s a possibility that he’s fighting in August. If he’s already in camp, he’s going to be ready as he’s training hard. It could be Danny Garcia, if it happens at 147. It’s a big opportunity. Mikey doesn’t belong at 147 especially against Errol Spence. But for Danny Garcia, the styles are perfect and I think we can give the fans a hell of a fight. 140 is the best weight but if there’s nothing there we’ll take the challenges at 147, whether it be a Danny Garcia or the Pacquiao-Thurman winner.”

The trainer acknowledges that the sport of boxing is hot and to capitalize on the buzz around the sport, the best fights need to happen like a Hooker vs Ramirez clash where Ramirez is fighting on DAZN where Hooker is aligned with while Ramirez is aligned with ESPN.

“Boxing is at a good point right now in the last 30 years,” Garcia said. “Bob Arum is not known for letting his fighters fight on other networks but I’m glad Bob Arum is letting his fighters fight on other networks because it means there’s hope for other fights.  With Wilder and Fury and Hooker-Ramirez, it’s good that these fights are happening.”

Maybe something like Ramirez fighting on DAZN and a rumored co pay-per-view for Wilder-Fury 2 could lead to another mega fight between Vasiliy Lomachenko and Robert’s brother Mikey.

“Me personally I’ve talked to Mikey and my father and it’s a fight we would prefer before anything else you know Mikey comes down to 140 and Loma would challenge himself,” stated Garcia.

“Loma is up for those big fights. The negotiations and networks, we’d have to figure that out but now that Bob Arum is allowing his fighters to fight elsewhere. It’s a start and last time I was in New York for the Crawford fight, Bob Arum called me and congratulated me and said have Mikey call me. I think it could be a fight that should happen. I want to see that fight as a fan myself. I love his style and challenges. Mikey would be the biggest challenge for him.“
