WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (38-0, 30 KOs) has continued his run as a hot free agent commodity.

The boxer was promoted for most of his career by Top Rank - until he filed a lawsuit to break that promotional agreement back in 2014.

The lawsuit lasted for two years, until they were able to reach an agreement - and then Garcia returned to the ring as a free agent in the fall of 2016.

For nearly two years, Garcia has been aggressively courted by the likes of Matchroom Sport's Eddie Hearn, Richard Schaefer of Ringstar Sports, Golden Boy's Oscar De La Hoya and even UFC president Dana White for his planned Zuffa Boxing banner.

No agreement have been reached with anyone, and Garcia continues to enjoy his position of being his own man with no restrictions.

"It's exciting that I'm in a position right now to entertain offers and discussions like that but no one is writing out any large checks yet so can't get too excited," Garcia said Brian Campbell of CBS Sports.

"We hope we can maybe get something in the near future with any of these guys. If we can work something out, great. I'm ready to sit down and discuss any possibilities. But until then, I'm happy doing what I'm doing."

At one point, White was viewed as a frontrunner to sign up Garcia.

There was talk that had White offered up a lot of money to get him on paper, but nothing has been finalized to this point. Garcia hopes White can succeed with his boxing venture.

"[White] did a great job in the UFC. He has definitely done a great job promoting it and turning it into the sport that it is," Garcia said. "He knows how to promote and do huge events. If he wants to jump in and venture into boxing, he needs top guys. He's going to need top names or else he is going to have a tough time launching his promotional boxing career. But if he gets the right names and he's willing to pay what these names deserve, I think he can do well."

Garcia will return to the ring on July 28th, when he unifies his title with IBF world champion Robert Easter in a Showtime televised fight.
