Four division world champion Mikey García intends to have one more fight in the final two months of 2019, and raised his hand to face WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in a mega-bout or 2020.
Garcia made his welterweight debut in March, when he jumped up by two weight classes and was dominated by IBF champion Errol Spence over twelve rounds.
While he accepted the superiority of Spence, Garcia is confident that he has the conditions to fight anyone at 147 pounds.
Garcia was impressed by Pacquiao's win from last month, when he dropped and decisioned undefeated Keith Thurman.
"We haven't decided what we're going to do, but what I'd like to do is make a fight before the end of the year and then look for a big fight, with someone like Manny Pacquiao," Garcia told ESPN Deportes.
"I think that would be my goal, but there are many plans, interesting things to come, the loss to Spence did not close the doors for me at all.
Mikey revealed that he has the possibility of working with many promoters. He's been approached with lucrative offers from Premier Boxing Champions, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, and there is even interest from his former promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank. All three promotional entities have different options for the boxer.
"In the next few days we will say what we're going to do. We know that good things are coming, personally I would not like to enter a contract for multiple fights, because I'd like to keep myself a free agent... it has worked for me so far. I feel good, but let's see what happens. There are options on the table, and we will soon make a decision," Garcia said.
