Miguel Flores: record, next fight and profile →
In a stunning upset, Dat Nguyen (20-3, 7 KOs) scored a jaw-dropping sixth-round TKO over previously undefeated Miguel Flores (21-1, 9 KOs) in Flores' hometown of Houston. Nguyen took the fight on four-weeks' notice and weighed in 1.25 pounds over the contracted 128-pound weight limit, which he attributed to a faulty scale.
Fringe contender Dat Nguyen was undaunted fighting in his opponent's hometown and being a significant underdog Tuesday night. Nguyen came to fight, holding his ground and eventually stopping Miguel Flores in round six at the Silver Street Studios in Houston, Tex. With the win, Nguyen improves to 20-3, 7 KOs. Flores, who entered the bout unbeaten, suffers his first defeat as a pro and falls to 21-1, 9 KOs.

Pedro Diaz and his Mundo Boxing team are hard at work at their Miami base preparing Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) for his bout with Moises Flores (25-0, 17 KOs) on February 25 for the WBA Super Bantamweight world title. The clash in Texas between two unbeaten fighters will be the Cuban’s first since he stopped James ‘Jazza’ Dickens in two rounds last July in Cardiff, Wales. Díaz is of the belief that Flores could prove to be the toughest challenge yet for the 36-year-old.
Guillermo "El Chacal" Rigondeaux 17-0-0 (11 KO's) and Moises 'Chucky' Flores 25-0-0 (17 KO's) will collide on February 25 at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. They will battle for the IBO and WBA super bantamweight titles as part of the Miguel Cotto vs. James Kirkland undercard.
