Abner Mares is 36 years old and he hasn’t fought in more than four years. The three-division champion is thus realistic about his comeback. He intends to take “one fight at a time” and hasn’t spoken about boxing any of the champions in the 130-pound division.

LOS ANGELES – Abner Mares’ near four-year retirement will end on Sept. 4 when he takes on Miguel Flores at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The bout will be one of the featured attractions for a FOX pay-per-view headlined by heavyweights Andy Ruiz Jr. and Luis Ortiz.

Abner Mares was taken aback by what he called “a crazy question” during a recent virtual press conference. A reporter wanted to know, though, if Miguel Flores would target Mares’ surgically repaired right eye when they fight September 4 in Los Angeles. Mares hasn’t fought in more than four years, in large part due to a detached right retina he suffered during a sparring session in January 2019 while preparing to fight Gervonta Davis.

LOS ANGELES – Abner Mares is getting ready to return to the ring following a four-plus year retirement when he takes on Miguel Flores on Sept. 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

At the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, former three-division champion Abner Mares will fight for the first time in three years. He will take on former title challenger Miguel Flores in a ten round super featherweight attraction, as part of the Fox Sports pay-per-view undercard to the heavyweight scrap between Andy Ruiz and Luis Ortiz.

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. and top contender Luis “King Kong” Ortiz will meet in a much-anticipated 12-round WBC Heavyweight Title Eliminator headlining a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View on September 4 in a Labor Day Weekend clash from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Red-hot bantamweight contender, Saul "The Beast" Sanchez (17-1, 10 KOs), of Pacoima, CA, coming off back-to-back first-round KOs on national television, is back in action as he will headline Thompson Boxing’s “Path to Glory” event on Friday, December 17, 2021, against Jose "Hollywood" Estrella (23-17-1, 16 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico. The 10-round bout will serve as the main event of the evening.
