Last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Miguel Cotto added another title to his illustrious career when he became the first champion of the newly created World Boxing Board (WBB), announced Santiago Albanese, who is the CEO of the organization. Some fans may have noticed Cotto carrying a mysterious silver title.

"The WBB was created in San Juan, Puerto Rico and its purpose is to rebuild the confidence of the fans and the media, and to promote the creation of world titles that are awarded only to boxers who actually earn them through their performance," said Albanese.

The first fight sanctioned by the new group, was Cotto's bout with Ricardo Mayorga. Albanese noted that in April, the WBB will be approving monthly ratings. The WBB will soon provide additional details of its creation and its future plans.
