WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto welcomes a December bout with Oscar De La Hoya. Several days ago, De La Hoya said he was very interested in making the last fight of his career against Cotto. De La Hoya must first get past Steve Forbes on May 3 and then Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September. Cotto has a tough task ahead with Antonio Margarito on July 26.

"If I beat Mayweather, who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, my following fight has to be with one of the best and it's no secret that Miguel Cotto is one of the best in the world," De La Hoya said. "He has a difficult fight with Antonio Margarito and although any thing can happen, we all know that Miguel Cotto is going to win."

Cotto told Primera Hora that if De La Hoya is serious, he needs to contact promoter Bob Arum to get the wheels turning.

"If Oscar De La Hoya wants to fight me, all he has to do is contact my promoter and my team. We are here and prepare ourselves hard to face the best," Cotto said. "We always emphasize our interest in fighting the big names of the welterweight division. Right now we are focused on our battle with Margarito, but we are sure that we will leave victorious."
