Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has announced that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) continues to build on their record-cracking gate figure. Two months ago, Mayweather-Canelo broke the $19 million mark and shattered the previous record of $18,419,200 - set in 2007 by Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather. On Thursday it was revealed that Mayweather-Canelo, as it stands right now and confirmed by the MGM Grand, has generated a gate of $20,003,150.

By Robert Morales - When a fighter loses his cool in the ring, it rarely works out well for him. Remember Victor Ortiz and what he did when he became frustrated against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their fight in September 2011? He couldn't land a clean punch, so he shot his head into Mayweather's face like a battering ram and, well, you know the rest. Others, like "Sugar" Shane Mosley, started well against Mayweather and then appeared to get lulled to sleep by Mayweather's defensive wizardry. It's probably going to take a fighter with a calm demeanor, one who doesn't easily get flustered, to beat Mayweather. Golden Boy Promotions executives Richard Schaefer and Eric Gomez believe their guy, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has that.

Floyd Mayweather has warned Saul Alvarez his unbeaten record will come to an end in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Alvarez brings a 42-0-1 record and, at 13 years Mayweather's junior, is widely predicted to give his superstar opponent a thorough physical test at the MGM Grand. The Mexican, whose WBC and WBA Super belts will be up for grabs, is the more natural light-middleweight but Mayweather has previously held both titles and was in no mood to contemplate defeat at his final press conference ahead of the weekend.

World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman believes the age of Floyd Mayweather Jr who is some 16 years older than his opponent Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in their much-awaited title showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, will be a factor. GMA 7 will telecast the Mayweather-Alvarez title fight in the Philippines, nationwide, after Sunday All Stars at 2:15 p.m. Sulaiman cautioned that “ it would be a grave mistake to discount Floyd Mayweather due to his age” pointing out that “Floyd has taken care of himself very well always being in optimum condition. He's weathered his career well receiving scant punishment in fights, which haven't transformed into wars, due to his superb boxing skills and more than sound defense.”

Floyd Mayweather is happy to admit his undefeated record has been partly built on handpicking opponents who didn't always provide the toughest fights but did help him become the world's best paid athlete. "Sometimes they say, 'Well, Floyd Mayweather's opponents was handpicked.' That's a good thing," Mayweather said in a conference call to promote Saturday's eagerly-awaited world title fight against Mexico's WBC and WBA super welterweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. "I commend my team ... when I sit back and I think about my career, I say 'you know what? I had a cool career. I didn't take any punishment'.
