Former five division champion Floyd Mayweather has fired back at the recent challenge from Youtube star turned boxer Jake Paul.
Mayweather retired from the sport in 2017, when he stopped UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds. Mayweather walked away with a perfect record of 50-0.
Since retiring, Mayweather has been involved in several exhibition fights.
The biggest of the bunch took place last year in Florida, where Mayweather went the eight round distance with social media personality Logan Paul - the older brother of Jake Paul.
During a press conference to promote that event, Mayweather and Jake Paul - and their teams - were involved in a scuffle - after Paul took Mayweather's hat during a face-to-face confrontation.
Paul was in action last month in Arizona. He dropped and decisioned MMA legend Anderson Silva. The victory raised his record to 6-0.
On Sunday in Dubai, Mayweather and Paul will be in the same venue.
Mayweather will be featured in the main event, in an exhibition fight with Youtuber Deji.
Paul will be at ringside as a special guest, to scout a potential future opponent - light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury, who returns in the co-feature against Paul Bamba.
Mayweather would like to see Paul fight a boxer, under the age of 40, in his next ring appearance.
“A lot of times when you say certain things you don’t want what you say you want. I mean he’s doing good for what he’s doing. You know, like I said, for what he’s doing,” Mayweather told reporters.
“He’s just a lot of talk. It’s different when you’re [facing boxers] at the highest level; once you get in there with a real fighter that can really fight. Is he doing good? Absolutely. For who he’s fighting. Guys 50, guys 40. Does he want to fight me? Of course, I’m nearly 50 years old, of course he wants to fight me.”
