Matthew Hatton has revealed that he will no longer be training his nephew Campbell Hatton.

Hatton was a raw novice when he turned professional back in 2021 and his uncle, a former European champion and world-title challenger, guided him to 14 victories before his unbeaten run recently came to an end at the hands of Jimmy Joe Flint.

The Central Area super lightweight title fight was a hard-fought affair but though Hatton’s determination and desire couldn’t be faulted, Flint’s experience and superior boxing skills kept him a step ahead.

Hatton’s famous surname has afforded him the type of opportunities that other fighters can only dream about but it has also meant that his every step has been subject to scrutiny and criticism. After losing his unbeaten record, the 23 year old will potentially carry a little less pressure into the ring with him, and he will be hoping that a new training team will reinvigorate his career.

Matthew Hatton took to social media this morning and posted: “What a journey the last 7 years. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. Always made him priority & always will. The right time to move on @campbellhatton the future is yours. Find a way. Make it happen.”
