Marquez: Rios Too Mechanical To Beat Manny Pacqiuao

By Salvador Rodriguez

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez says Brandon Rios is too mechanical to defeat Manny Pacquiao on November 23rd in Macau, China. It will be Pacquiao's first fight since getting knocked out in six round by Marquez last December. It was Pacquiao's second consecutive defeat. Overall, Marquez feels Rios might get a lot stronger from his tough training camp, but has doubts that he will be fast enough to overcome the physical advantages of Pacquiao.

"[Alex] Ariza is a good coach, Rivers is inherently strong, likes to punch. It will be interesting to see what working with Ariza will do for him in terms of speed. Because maybe Rios will get much stronger and we may see the best Rios, but that does not mean that a fighter who is mechanic will have the necessary speed to beat Pacquiao," Marquez said.

"Pacquiao is fast and strong and he can deal with these types of opponents. He is supposed to have a good return to the ring but all opponents are dangerous. The only thing that could change [the fight] is how Pacquiao reacts after that knockout. If Rios gives him a good punch, let's see if a bad memory [of his knockout to me] comes in."

Bradley spanked Marquez. Pacquiao destroyed Bradley. Styles make fights. If Marquez and Pacquiao fought 100 times, it would always be close. That's just what styles makes fights is.

marquez is the one to talk. he couldn't defeat a young buck who can't even punch. bradley has above average quickness. other than that, the guy has nothing to offer

the only way rios could get an upset is if he's as lucky as marquez!
