Four division world champion Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez has expressed his desire to be his own promoter of a possible farewell fight in 2016, after having his first experience as the lead promoter of a Marquez Boxing event on Saturday night at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City.

Marquez, who works closely with Zanfer Promotions and Top Rank, says he is not contractually tied to any promotional company.

At 42-years-old, Marquez has captured championships at featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight.

Marquez has been inactive since May 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado. The Mexican fighter has since battled a lingering knee injury that postponed several planned returns.

"We still do not know if I will continue. I am a free agent, let's see what comes. I think the important thing is that if I continue - I would like to do the last fight right here in Mexico City and I want to be the promoter," Marquez told ESPN Deportes.

"I have to see what suits us and what can be done, but to close my career as my own promoter would be awesome."
