Mark Heffron will return to the ring on November 25th and he will do so with a new face in his corner.

After splitting from Joe Gallagher, Heffron has linked up with another Manchester trainer, Lee Beard.

Heffron (29-3-1, 23 KO’s) initially turned professional under Gallagher back in 2010 and returned to him in 2021, eventually winning the British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles by knocking out Lennox Clarke the following year.

Heffron didn’t manage to capitalize on the victory - boxing only one non-title round over the following twelve months - and after losing his titles to Jack Cullen in September, the 31 year old decided that he needed to change things.

Beard is a well respected technical trainer who has worked with the likes of Ricky Hatton, Argenis Mendez, Joan Guzman and Jack Catterall.

“As we all know, Lee has a wealth of experience and he’s worked with a lot of top fighters like Ricky Hatton. When I was training at The Pheonix Camp with Rob Rimmer, I used to see him there. He did my corner a couple of times in sparring and I just always thought he was good,” Heffron told BoxingScene.

“When I left Joe after my last fight I was thinking about which good trainers were about and Lee Beard is one of the first ones I thought of. I was supposed to try a few gyms out but I went to Lee’s and we gelled straight away.

“He wants to work on bringing my boxing out. Lee’s been working on getting me moving and using my jab. He said I’ve got one of the strongest jabs he’s ever worked with and doesn’t know why I don’t use it.

“I’ve got a fight in Oldham on November 25th. I’ll get this out of the way and end the year on a win and then get straight back into the mix. Whichever titles are available or whatever big fights are available, I’ll be open to.”
