Mark Bernaldez: record, next fight and profile →
Welterweight prospect Brian Norman, Jr. knocked out Juan Rodriguez in the opening round Saturday night at the Manual Airtime Community Center Theatre in Miami, Florida. With the victory, Norman improves to 18-0 1 NC, 15 knockouts.
Albert Bell was reduced to a one-handed boxer by the end of the night, but was enough to preserve his unblemished record along with a massive bet placed on the Toledo native. The unbeaten junior lightweight came up aces in Thursday’s ESPN-televised chief support, claiming a 10-round shutout win over Philippines’ Mark Bernaldez (20-4, 14KOs) at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. The bout sparked the interest of at least one enthusiastic better, who placed a $150,000 bet at BetMGM Luxor on Bell, who was a 20-1 favorite at the time.
Albert Bell remains perfect at a time when there are opportunities abound in the junior lightweight division. The unbeaten prospect from Toledo, Ohio put his considerable height and reach advantage to good use, soundly outboxing Philippines’s Mark Bernaldez over ten rounds Thursday evening at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jose Pedraza and Mikkel LesPierre have literally been here before. This time around, they hope to make it beyond the scale and into the ring. For the second time in two weeks, both boxers made weight for a scheduled ESPN headliner. The two are scheduled to collide atop a six-fight card, which takes place Thursday evening at MGM Grand Conference Center (“The Bubble”) in Las Vegas beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.
Jose Pedraza and Mikkel LesPierre will give it another shot. The junior welterweights will face off in the 10-round main event Thursday, July 2 from the MGM Grand Conference Center—Grand Ballroom. Pedraza-LesPierre was originally scheduled for June 18, but the bout was postponed after LesPierre’s manager tested positive for COVID-19.
Another Filipino underdog will fight on a Top Rank closed door event, at the MGM Grand's Conference Center in Las Vegas on July 2. After countryman Mike Plania’s sensational win over Joshua Greer, Mark Bernaldez (20-3, 14 KOs) will face an undefeated foe in heavily favored Albert Bell (16-0, 5 KOs).
