Here are the weights from Munich: Marco Huck defends his WBO cruiserweight title in the main event against challenger Hugo Hernan Garay.

World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel gave Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck a diamond ring for his successful five title defenses.

WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck (32-1, 23 KOs) and hot-blooded challenger Hugo Hernan Garay (34-5, 18 KOs) needed to be restrained today following a heated press conference in Munich. After showing up late, Garay constantly mocked his opponent and even taunted the local journalists. Asked about his strange behavior, Garay stated he “had the … to be self-confident” and had come to Germany “to win the title.” Huck ignored most of the insults hurled at him. “Right now, Garay is laughing, but on Saturday night, he will be crying,” the 26-year-old stated. “His behavior is ridiculous. He cannot come here, insult the press and my team and expect to get away with it. I will make him pay in the ring. He will be crying for mercy once we collide on Saturday.”

WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck (32-1, 23 KOs) has refused to enter a dirty war of words with Hugo Hernan Garay (34-5, 18 KOs). After today´s press training, the 30-year-old Argentinian challenger shocked the journalists by predicting to “kill” his opponent on Saturday night. Huck would not comment on Garay´s harsh words. “I don´t care about his remarks,” he stated. “I will give my answer in the ring. With the support of my fans, I will make another exciting title defence. The belt remains in Germany! I will get married as world champion on July 30.”

WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck (32-1, 23 KOs) has arrived in Munich where he will put his belt on the line against Hugo Hernan Garay (34-5, 18 KOs) on Saturday. “It will be an exciting week,” Huck promised. “I can promise my fans another spectacular performance and an exciting victory. Let´s get it on.”

This Friday (July 15th) former WBA cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan returns to the ring against Lubos Suda from Czech Republic (live on Eurosport, broadcast starts at 21.00h / 9.00pm CET). Suda is one of only five fighters who could beat Arslan in his 14 years in professional boxing. In December 2003 the Czech veteran got the nod in a close 12 round WBA intercontinental championship bout in Prague. Now Arslan wants to take revenge in his own backyard at the EWS Arena in Göppingen, Germany, where he beat Carlos Cruzat for the WBO intercontinental title in November 2005.

Inside and outside the ring, July will be a special month for WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco “Captain” Huck. The 26-year-old power puncher (32-1, 23 KOs) will make the seventh defence of his title against Hugo Hernan Garay (34-5, 18 KO´s) in Munich on July 16 before getting married two weeks later. “The next weeks will be huge for me,” he said. “Of course I want to get married as world champion. That´s why I have to take care of business against Garay.”

On July 16 in Munich, Germany, WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck will headline a Sauerland event by defending his title against tough challenger Hugo Garay. We visited the training camp in Kimbaum, where Huck is grinding it out for the big fight.

German middleweight contender Dominik Britsch, 23-0, and one of the best future bets for promotional firm Sauerland Event, takes on American Ryan Davis on July 16 in Munich in a supporting bout to the cruiserweight title bout between Marco Huck and Hugo Garay. At stake is vacant IBF I/C title. It´s the first 12-rounder for Britsch who will be moved into bigger fights next season.

European Light Heavyweight Champion Eduard Gutknecht (21-1, 9 KOs) will make a first defence of his title on July 16 when he takes on Lorenzo Di Giacomo (41-4-1, 19 KOs) in Munich. Gutknecht joined Team Sauerland at the beginning of the year and clinched the European title with an eighth-round TKO victory over Danny McIntosh last month. “I have big plans for the future,” Gutknecht said. “I have worked hard to become European champion. By successfully defending my title in Munich, I want to further climb in the rankings and get myself into a position for a world title shot.”
