BoxingScene.com caught up with former junior welterweight champion Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi shortly after his one sided unanimous decision victory over Jose Miguel Cotto.  The scores were 99-91 twice and 97-93.  Malignaggi had a slow first round and then controlled most of the fight using a left jab and throwing combinations to keep Cotto off of him through the middle rounds.  Malignaggi all but abandoned his right hand in the later rounds leading many in the media to believe that he had broken his right hand again.  Malignaggi has a history of hand problems.

Malignaggi told BoxingScene.com, "I hurt both of my hands. See what I am talking about," as he showed me his hands.  "I was just starting to step on the gas when I hurt them.  People bitch about me not stepping it up but I have been dealing with this sh*t (his hands) my whole career."

When told that it appeared He had hurt his right hand because he almost stopped throwing it the Italian-American said, "I hurt both of my hands.  I had to use one of them so I used my left.  I had been landing my combinations and I thought I could have stepped it up and then this happened."

Malignaggi isn't sure how long he will be out as his hands heal but he hopes to get his first title shot in the welterweight division in his next fight.
