An already buzzing heavyweight division will have another thrilling addition in the near future.
According to Ziya Aliyev, the Boxing Stars Management group has signed a contract with amateur super heavyweight star Mahammadrasul Majidov of Azerbaijan.
Hard-hitting 6’3’’ Majidov, originally from Urukhchimakhi, Dagestan, Russia, is a three-time amateur world champion (2011, 2013 and 2017) and 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist.
Majidov, now 33, defeated heavyweight star Anthony Joshua, then just a wrangling prospect, on a close nod in the final of 2011 Baku world championship, dropping him once.
He had also wins over 2008 Olympic gold medalist Roberto Camarelle and now prospects Ivan Dychko and Sergey Kuzmin in his amateur past - but has been inactive ever since his big victories in 2017.
“Welcome to our team, Mahammadrasul Majidov, 3x amateur super heavyweight champion of the world, Olympic bronze medalist 2012, heavy puncher and absolutely a beast. It is an honor to manage your career in the professionals. The promoter will be announced soon”, reads Aliyev’s Instagram.
