Maidana Jabs Khan, Has Full Praise For Erik Morales

By Chris LaBate

When Marcos Maidana was asked to compare his last two opponents, Amir Khan and Erik Morales, you could almost predict his answer. Maidana lost a close twelve round decision to Khan in December and he won a close twelve round split decision over former three division champion Erik Morales on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana prefers the style of Morales, who stands his ground to trade punches, and mentioned that Khan runs from exchanges.

"I never said it was going to be easy. I always said that it was going to be war and that's what it was. [Khan and Morales] are on the same level pretty much. Amir Khan is a bit faster, but he runs....he runs. Erik doesn't run, he stands and fights," Maidana said.

"It surprised me that [Morales] able to take those punches. He is very hard to knock out. To knock him out you have to hit him with something, a stick or a hammer. I like fighting [guys like Morales] because they like to fight and they are brave."

Khan fought with the wrong gameplan. Instead of back peddling and letting himself get caught on the ropes, he should have staked out the centre of the ring and fought in front of Maidana. Khan fought best when he stood…

[QUOTE=SpitBalla;10356502]There are serious questions about Maidana after last nights performance. I don't care that he almost knocked out Khan in the 10th round, because he looked like a school girl for 9 WHOLE ROUNDS. How often do you see a…

lol at Khan winning the first 9, then how did the scorecards end up two being 114-111 and the other 113-112, biased much? Anyways Maidana pulled Khans hoe card that night, Maidana like I always said has over rated power…
