Marcos Maidana (34-3-0. 31 KOs) is hoping to shut the mouth of WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KOs) on December 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Maidana is the WBA Intercontinental champion at welterweight, while Broner captured the full title in June with a twelve round decision victory over Paulie Malignaggi.

"He talks a lot, but I'm going to silence him. Of course it's a difficult fight, but for both of us - because he came up by two weight divisions and that's not going to be beneficial to him, it's going to be a problem for him," Maidana told Carlos Irusta.

Malignaggi told Maidana - "I hit him easy, but you're much more of a puncher than me, you're going to put him in trouble."

Sebastian Contursi, who advises Maidana, is not sold on Broner's ability to compete at welterweight.

"I predicted that Malignaggi would present problems for Broner, although most thought it would be was easy for Adrien. Broner is physically small for the division. And knowing Maidana, [he will really be focused for that fight] because he has to win. It's a huge commitment for him, but [a win] also opens a lot doors," Contursi said.
