Mahammadrasul Majidov Blasts Out Tom Little in Two

Two-time Olympian and current heavyweight prospect Mahammadrasul Majidov picked up his second knockout in as many pro fights, needing less than two rounds to take out England’s Tom Little.

A knockdown and subsequent punishment forced the stoppage at 1:49 of round two in the DAZN-streamed heavyweight opener Saturday evening at Diriyah Arena in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Majidov worked behind his jab, using his natural aggression and superior skillset to negate the massive disparity in size against Little, a 6’7” 251-pound journeyman who provided little in the way of competitive action. The end of the first round saw Majidov develop a body attack while also mixing in right hands which broke Little’s high guard.

The beginning of the end came early in round two. A chopping right hand by Majidov left Little on wobbly legs before stumbling to the canvas. Little managed to beat the count of referee Steve Gray, who gave the dazed Brit a long hard look before alloiwing action to continue.

Majidov remained steady on the attack, with Little doing his best to wade through the storm in hopes of responding with firepower of his own. That moment never came, as Majidov continued to unload until finally forcing the stoppage.

Little has now lost four straight as he falls to 10-8 (3KOs). Majidov—a Russia-born heavyweight who represented Azerbaijan in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics—advances to 2-0 (2KOs), having turned pro this past September in New York City.

The bout served in supporting capacity to the heavyweight title fight rematch between California’s Andy Ruiz (33-1, 22KOs) and England’s Anthony Joshua (22-1, 21KOs). Both bouts—along with three more preliminary heavyweight contests—air live on Sky Sports Box Office in the United Kingdom and stream live on DAZN in the United States.
