Magomed Kurbanov: record, next fight and profile →
What happened to him Saturday night felt worse to Michel Soro and his team than his controversial technical-knockout loss to Israil Madrimov in December 2021.
In the main event of the card, staged by the RCC Boxing Promotion at Uralets Arena in Ekaterinburg, Russia, local favorite and TBRB #7 Magomed Kurbanov escaped with a split decision win in a very tight and damaging (for Kurbanov) affair with a long-time light middleweight contender Michel Soro of France.
WBA # 2 ranked junior middleweight Michel Soro (35-3-2) and WBA # 5 Magomed Kurbanov (24-0) square off on May 6 in Ekaterinburg, Russia, in a non-title ten-rounder.
Ekaterinburg, Russia - TBRB #8 light middleweight (presently unranked by major sanctioning bodies as all Russia-based Russian boxers are) Magomed Kurbanov improved his record to solid 24-0, 13 KOs, with a strong unanimous decision over WBA #3 Venezuelan power-puncher Johan Gonzalez in a hard-fought ten-rounder.
German Titov and RCC Boxing Promotions continue their local activities with a solid fight card, scheduled for Sunday, December 11th, at the DIVS Arena in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The card consists of ten fights, which will feature both recent amateur standouts and well-established contenders.
WBC #8 / TBRB #9 Magomed Kurbanov (23-0, 13 KOs) continued his winning streak by defeating former WBO light middleweight titleholder Patrick Teixeira over ten rounds with a unanimous decision. Kurbanov, who dropped Teixeira hard in the first, combined his sometimes underrated boxing skills with always-present toughness to competitively outbox the Brazilian with the scores: 99-90, 98-91, and 97-92.
Light middleweight contenders, Magomed Kurbanov of Russia and Patrick Teixeira of Brazil, will finally collide on July 9 in one of the important fights in the light middleweight division. The bout, which has been postponed before, will take place at the Uralets Arena in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and will be promoted by the RCC Boxing Promotions. It will be scheduled for ten rounds.
Magomed Kurbanov and Patrick Teixeira are once again stuck in a holding pattern. The intriguing junior middleweight has suffered its second postponement, as the March 26 show it was due to headline has been canceled. German Titov, lead event promoter confirmed with BoxingScene.com that the show will not proceed, though unable to provide an update on when it will be rescheduled.
Magomed Kurbanov and Patrick Teixeira face threat of yet another postponement. The ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War has prompted the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and IBO to take a firm stance regarding its sanctioning of upcoming fights.
A new date has been set. Russian contender Magomed Kurbanov will return to the ring on March 26 in Yekaterinburg, where he will take on former world champion Patrick Teixeira for the WBO International junior middleweight title, according to information provided by RCC Boxing Promotions to Oleg Bogatov.
