Former word champion Luis "Nica" Concepcion (36-6) picked up a much needed victory tonight over Luis Carrillo (17-10-1) in Panama City.  The former WBA super flyweight champion dropped Carillo twice in the second round and the referee immediately stopped the fight after the second knockdown.

The official time of the TKO was the :21 mark of the 2nd round in a bout that was scheduled for 8 rounds.

Concepcion, who has defeated the likes of Kohei Kono and Hernan Marquez, hopes that the victory will get him a step closer to another title crack at a title.

He also said that even though it took him three tries to get down to 119 pounds - he weighed 123 pounds on his first attempt and 121 on his second - which was still above the 117 pound contracted weight limit, that he will have no problems getting down to the 115 pound super flyweight limit in the future.

"I want to go back to the gym and restart my career. I want to become a world champion again. I feel really good at this weight class. With proper preparation I can get down to 113 or even down to 112 3/4. I am taking my career very seriously and am ready to win another world title," said Concepcion.

The 32-year-old Panamanian has gone 2-2 in his last four fights.

Concepcion lost a twelve round decision to talented Kal Yafai last December, when they fought for the vacant WBA super flyweight title on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's world title defense against Eric Molina at the O2 Arena in London.

Concepcion bounced back with a knockout win over Luis De La Rosa in July. But his winning streak was quickly cut short, because then he suffered an upset decision loss to underdog Iran Diaz in September.
