Lorenzo Parra: record, next fight and profile →

Featherweight Omar Trinidad made the championship weight ahead of his fight Friday night at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.

In an age where boxers turn out maybe twice a year, Omar Trinidad is keeping busy – yet is willing to wait for a featherweight title shot he's certain will come.

Omar Trinidad can’t get to where he wants to go fast enough, but he’s doing all he can to speed up the process as he heads toward an August 15 clash with Lorenzo Parra.

Omar Trinidad will take on Lorenzo Parra in a 10-round featherweight main event on August 15 at Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, 360 Promotions has announced.

Lorenzo Parra needed a seemingly unnecessary overtime round Friday night, but he still beat Javon Woodard Jr. on the scorecards in their nine-round junior featherweight fight.

Javon Woodard, Jr. wants to face the tough challenges to assert himself in the junior featherweight division. Woodard will face once-beaten Lorenzo Parra tonight at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The eight-round bout will be part of the OTX Boxing Series card that will stream live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).

Several mid-sized but well-packed events have taken its place across Europe this past weekend, some of them being held in Eastern European countries. There were several minor title fights among them but the focus was also set at three members of locally well-known Baysangurov boxing family.

Former WBA flyweight king (and not the worst one - by far!) Lorenzo Parra (32-6-2, 19 KOs), who scored road wins over such fighters as Takefumi Sakata (twice), Eric Morel, Brahim Asloum and Yo Sam Choi, and drew with multidivision world champion Jorge Arce on his turf, continued his sad journey of a famed trialhorse. Parra, 38, was dropped no less than six times - once in the 4th round, thrice in the fifth stanza, and two times in the sixth - in a six-rounder against Russian welterweight champion Petros Ananyan but summoned all what was left of his better self to somehow survive until the final bell. Scores were: 60-51, 60-50, and 60-48 - for Ananyan, who improves to 10-0-2, 5 KOs.

In a period of less than three years, Latvia has slowly evolved into one of the hotbeds of… Russian boxing. Once inspired by Kirill Pchelnikov, the local field is now led by Yuri Fedorov of Sport Empire LTD and his partners. One of the latter – Oksana Chernishova – is staging another event tomorrow in Riga at Studio 69

Mexicali, Mexico - Five-division world champion Jorge "Travieso" Arce, reached 60 professional wins by knocking out Venezuelan Lorenzo "Lencho" Parra in the fifth round of their super bantamweight rematch. They went to draw in September 2010. Arce, the current WBO champion in the bantamweight division, was fighting in a non-title bout.
