Promoter Tom Loeffler knows a thing or two about promoting a fighter. Whether it is Kevin Kelley, the Klitschko brothers or Gennadiy Golovkin, fighters who are represented by Loeffler are also exposed to the media.

Add Callum Walsh to that list. The junior middleweight prospect has passed the eye test thus far and remains humble and motivated to create his own path to stardom.

Walsh will face Luis Garcia in a clash of unbeaten fighters tonight at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, California (UFC Fight Pass, 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT). The six-round bout will headline a ‘Hollywood Fight Nights’ card.

At Wednesday’s weigh-in, Walsh weighed 152.2 pounds. Garcia weighed in at 153.4 pounds.

Walsh (2-0, 2 knockouts), who is originally from Cork, Ireland and now resides in Long Beach, California, has decimated his opposition thus far, notching two first round knockout wins. In his last bout on March 17, Walsh knocked out Gael Ibarra at 37 seconds of the opening round. The win over Ibarra took less than a minute less of Walsh’s knockout win of Earl Henry.

Besides devastating power to go along with an improving skill-set, Loeffler is building Walsh slowly. The amateur standout is trained by Freddie Roach, but has also built a significant following in Ireland.

Loeffler has made Walsh accessible to the media in recent months, which has given him more exposure. Walsh made the rounds in New York City, including the super fight between undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano on April 30.

“(Tonight) is a step-up for Callum,” Loeffler told BoxingScene Tuesday night. “It’s a good fight for Callum. Garcia is rated much higher on Boxrec than his first two opponents. There is no reason why he can’t be a world champion. Freddie Roach calls him the best young fighter in the gym. He’s a puncher and a southpaw.

“We took Callum to the Taylor-Serrano fight. There were a lot of Irish fans who recognized him and he made his rounds with the media. He was also at UFC 274. Dana White interacted with him. We’re doing to Callum what we did with Gennadiy in what we’re building and expanding his fanbase by taking him to different sports. He’s not shy by the media, but he still remains humble and has responded well.”

Garcia (3-0, 1 KO), who resides in San Diego, California, knocked out Luis Cueto in the opening round of his last bout on November 19. Like Walsh, all of Garcia’s wins have been against fighters with losing records.

Ernesto Mercado (5-0, 5 KOs), another amateur standout who currently resides in nearby Pomona, will also fight on the card. He will square off against Jose Zaragoza of Sedalia, Missouri in a six-round bout.

“Mercado is a late-addition to the card, but he’s created quite a bit of buzz and has received lots of recognition,” said Loeffler. “He’s also a standout amateur.”

Zaragoza (8-4-1, 2 KOs), who is originally from the Mexican state of Jalisco, was stopped by Keyshawn Davis in the second round of his last fight on December 11. The loss snapped a three-bout winning streak.

Featherweight Omar Cande Trinidad (7-0-1, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles will face Denver’s Andrew Othello Strond (6-1, 1 KO) in a six-round bout.

Marco Deckman (8-1, 7 KOs), who is originally from Heide, Germany and now resides in the Los Angeles suburb of North Hollywood, will square off against Jasper McCargo (4-2-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round light heavyweight bout.

In lightweight action, Chelsey Anderson (4-0, 1 KO) of nearby Yorba Linda will face San Diego’s Jessica Juarez (3-1, 1 KO) in a six-round bout.

Three more fights will round out the card.
