Liam Williams: record, next fight and profile →
ON FRIDAY MARCH 8 the sport of boxing will be making its much anticipated return to the grand surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall and we are delighted to be the ones behind making this welcome development a reality.
Two-weight British champion Liam Williams is eager to return to action but remains open to the prospect of resuming his career at both 154lb and 160lb. The Welsh wizard produced the performance of a lifetime to stop Mark Heffron and lift the British middleweight crown in Manchester back in December having previously won British, European and Commonwealth titles as a light-middle.
Liam Williams moved up in weight and produced a sensational showing. The Welshman, a former British champion at super-welterweight, stepped up to middleweight to take on Mark Heffron. Williams agreed to fight the previously undefeated Northerner up at 160lbs after he failed to secure an opponent for the vacant British title.
Frampton, Warrington Final Press Conference Photos Gallery - IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington takes on former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton at the Manchester Arena on December 22nd live on BT Sport Box Office. Mark Heffron and Liam Williams contest the vacant British middleweight title and Belfast’s blue chip featherweight prospect Michael Conlan (9-0) takes on former commonwealth champion Jason Cunningham (24-5).
Former British, Commonwealth and WBO European super welterweight champion Williams bids to become a two-weight British champion on December 22 at the Manchester Arena when he faces Mark Heffron for the vacant title as chief support to Josh Warrington defending his IBF world featherweight title against two-weight world champion Carl Frampton.
Frank Warren brought together the undercard fighters for his December 22 show at the Manchester Arena last week to discuss their respective bouts. Josh Warrington’s maiden IBF title defence against Carl Frampton tops the bill, but there are other intriguing fights in prospect on the show, which will be televised by BT Sport here in the UK.
Meng Fanlong (13-0, 8 KOs) will make his highly-anticipated broadcast debut on DAZN on Saturday, November 24 at Le Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco. The event will be promoted by Matchroom Boxing. Fanlong – the reigning IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight champion – will take on England’s Frank Buglioni (23-3-1, 16 KO’s) in a 10 round IBF Intercontinental title match, which will be his most high-profile fight to date.
Mark Heffron taking on Liam Williams is to become a reality at the Manchester Arena on December 22, live on BT Sport Box Office. Heffron, 21-0 (17KOs) and Williams, 18-2-1 (13KOs), collide on the undercard of Josh Warrington defending his IBF world featherweight title against Carl Frampton in what is certain to be an absolute barnstormer of a fight.
JJ Metcalf will defend his WBC International super-welterweight title against Liam Williams when they clash on December 22nd at the Manchester Arena on the undercard of Josh Warrington’s world title defence against Carl Frampton.
Liam Williams will be hoping for a shot at the big-time sooner rather than later after snapping a hiatus with an early finish. The super-welterweight took apart Craig Nicholson inside an eventful two rounds on Friday night. Williams headlined the ‘New Beginnings’ card promoted by MTK Global, exclusively live on iFL TV, at the Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff.
