Liam Williams has called out James Metcalf.
The former British, Commonwealth and WBO European super-welterweight champion got back to winning ways recently.
Williams, 26, stopped Darryll Sharp inside three rounds back in April as he snapped a winless period of 12 months in which he suffered two defeats at the hands of former world champion Liam Smith.
But he has now called out the son of Shea Neary, who recently won the vacant WBC International super-welterweight title at Manchester Arena, challenging him to a September showdown.
“[I] just want to put this out there,” Williams stated on social media recently. “I want [Metcalf] in September!”
With the call-out, the man who has recently left trainer Gary Lockett and joined Dominic Ingle in Sheffield mentioned the duo’s managerial team MTK Global as well as promoter Frank Warren, who looks after the careers of the two 154-pound fighters.
The two were meant to meet in a British title eliminator before Metcalf ended up taking on Aitor Nieto, exclusively live on BT Sport, last month.
Ronnie Clark has had his next fight confirmed.
The Dundee super-featherweight will make the first defence of his IBF European title next month.
Clark, who stopped Zelfa Barrett to win the vacant crown back in March at Bethnal Green's famous York Hall venue, exclusively live on BoxNation, will fight on the same platform.
He will face former Olympian David Oliver Joyce on August 24 at Glasgow's Emirates Arena.
Elite Irish amateur Joyce (7-0, 6 KOs) was last seen stopping Jordan Ellison in April and has been handed a shot at Clark (21-4-2, 10 KOs), who is a former British and Celtic super-featherweight title challenger, on the back of an impressive start in the paid code since representing Ireland at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
There is a rematch clause involving Zelfa Barrett, but it appears the English champion will have to wait for his shot at revenge after it was revealed that Clark would face Joyce.
There are opportunities on the undercard for former Commonwealth super-middleweight champion David Brophy and Kieran Smith as well as ex-Commonwealth and European champion Willie Limond.
Limond will take on Darragh Foley of Australia in a battle of MTK Global debutants and Stephen Ormond, the former WBO European lightweight champion, is in action against Georgie Ashie.
Stephen Tiffney, Tommy Philbin, Chris Wood, Trigger Wood and Aidan McGlynn complete the line-up.
Marc Kerr will meet Jay Byrne for the vacant BUI Celtic super-welterweight title in the new season.
The fight, which will be promoted by Sam Kynoch for MTK Scotland, will take place on September 14 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow.
Details regarding the supporting wast of the fight between Kerr and Byrne will be revealed in due course.
