Leo Santa Cruz: Gervonta Davis Will Be Tired After Five - Then I'll Drown Him!

Leo Santa Cruz has been studying footage on his upcoming opponent, Gervonta Davis.

Their showdown will headline a Showtime pay-per-view event on October 24th from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

In a rare occurrence, there will be two world titles - from two weight divisions - at stake.

The contracted weight is 130-pounds, with the WBA super featherweight and lightweight titles at stake. Santa Cruz has the WBA's belt at 130, while Davis has the title at 135. If Davis is unable to make the contracted weight, he will have to deal with significant financial penalties.

Davis has been out of the ring since December, while Santa Cruz last saw action in November.

From what Santa Cruz has witnessed, Davis gets tired when there is too much pressure applied during rounds.

Santa Cruz will watch out for Davis' power in the first half of the contest, and then he plans to pick up the pace to wear out Davis for a stoppage in the late rounds.

“The way I think about fighting him is that I have the reach, the volume of punches, I'm always applying pressure and coming forward - and I feel like that is going to be a problem for him, and I've seen that he gets tired," Santa Cruz told ESPN Deportes.

"He is strong the first four or five rounds, we must be careful that he does not catch us with any good punches... and after that he gets tired, and that's where my experience comes in. I'm going to go right to him and I'm going to drown him, putting pressure on him... this is how my fight must be."

If they chose you as Davis next opponent, you know you have zero chance. He'll get tired of beating him up, that's a given.
