Kyrone Davis: record, next fight and profile →

The combination of fighting at home and versus an opponent who has never been stopped doesn’t leave David Benavidez with any added pressure to close the show in emphatic style.

Unbeaten two-time world champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez will make his homecoming return to Phoenix, Ariz. against 168-pound contender Kyrone Davis in a 10-round match that headlines live on SHOWTIME Saturday, November 13 in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center.

Earlier this month, Kyrone Davis improved his record to 16-2-1 when he defeated Martez McGregor (8-5) by unanimous decision at The Armory in Minneapolis. The fight topped a FS1 card that preceded a Premier Boxing Champions on FOX telecast.

Nielsen Media Research reported Wednesday that “FOX PBC Fight Night” drew an average of 735,000 viewers Sunday night for a tripleheader that featured unbeaten junior middleweight contender Jesus Ramos in the main event. Viewership peaked at 915,000 during Ramos’ convincing victory over Brian Mendoza, who lost a 10-round unanimous decision at The Armory in Minneapolis.

Kyrone Davis secured the win he thought he deserved in his previous outing, though in a fight where an upset was very much on the table. Three points deducted from the scorecard of Martez McGregor proved costly and also spared Davis the humility of suffering a defeat in their high-contact affair Sunday evening at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Judges Robert Hecko (75-74), Kyle Shiely (75-74) and Josef Mason (77-72) were in agreement, awarding the bout to Davis who would have otherwise landed on the wrong end of a split decision in their PBC on FS1 headliner.

Jesus Ramos is ready to test the junior middleweight waters. The growing 20-year-old southpaw from Casa Grande, Arizona moves up from welterweight, at least for one night as he faces Brian Mendoza (19-1, 13KOs) in a scheduled ten-round bout just above the junior middleweight limit. Both boxers made weight for their bout, which airs live atop a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox tripleheader Sunday evening from The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Super middleweight contender Kyrone Davis will square off against Martez McGregor in an 8/10-round showdown that tops FS1 PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes this Sunday, September 5 from the Armory in Minneapolis.

There were many observers surprised both by the verdict in the recent super middleweight title eliminator between Anthony Dirrell and Kyrone Davis and the fact that it came down to sweating out the final scorecards. Caleb Plant was not among those particularly caught off guard by either scenario—so much that the unbeaten super middleweight titlist didn’t even bother to watch the event in real time.

Anthony Dirrell (33-2-2) and Kyrone Davis (15-2-1) battled to a split draw in Los Angeles this last Saturday in the main event of a FOX tripleheader. The final scores were 115-113, 114-114 and 113-115.

It wasn’t the verdict he wanted to hear, nor the circumstances under which Anthony Dirrell wanted to finish the fight. Nevertheless, the former two-time super middleweight titlist quickly came to grips with his 12-round draw versus Kyrone Davis in their Fox-televised title eliminator Saturday evening at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
