Oracle Arena, Oakland, Calif. - Former super lightweight champion Amir Khan is in the middle of his training camp for his May 7th HBO pay-per-view showdown against WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 155 pounds.

While Khan (31-3, 19KOs) has looked sensational in some of his past fights, he also has been reckless in others which has caused him to be stopped twice.

Khan believes that his lack of focus was caused by fighting opponents that didn't inspire him. He said that he won't have that problem against Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) and promises to put on the best performance of his career.

"I think in this fight you will see a new Amir Khan. You are not going to see the old Amir Khan. It was hard for me to motivate myself when I was fighting these other fighters - no disrespect to like Algieri or these other fighters I fought. I always expected a big fight against like Mayweather or Pacquiao and when those fights weren't happening it was hard for me to motivate myself and now it has come to a time where it is the biggest fight of my career against someone like Canelo where I know I can't make a mistake.

"This is such a big motivation for me. That is why I am not going to throw it away. I've always been asking for a big fight and my time has come now. I am not just going to get beat. I am going to go up in this fight and prove why I wanted the big fight," Khan stated.
