Khan Sees No Reason For Brook To Reject Rehydration Clause

Amir Khan sees no reason for Kell Brook to reject a rehydration clause for a potential high profile showdown in 2019.

The British pair, both working with promoter Eddie Hearn, have repeatedly been linked with a high-profile domestic bout and appear to have moved a step closer towards sealing the fight.

Khan recently stated that that Brook was willing to take the bout at welterweight, as well as sticking to a 10-pound rehydration limit, claiming that "nothing can stop" the fight from happening next year.

Khan told Sky Sports' Toe 2 Toe show - "Obviously me and Brook are with Eddie Hearn. I've left that to Eddie to do all the negotiations, to speak to both parties, to speak to his trainer, his manager, himself,"

"It's a fight I would love to have. I think it would make a lot of money financially for both fighters, but at the same time it would be a massive fight in the UK. It's a fight that the fans want. Why not make it happen? Nothing can stop it. He's agreed to be 147 [pounds] and also have a rehydration clause of 10 pounds. I'm happy with that. If he's happy to take that, so am I. If that fight can happen, then 147 it is.

But Brook responded to Khan's comments on Twitter, confirming that he would make weight and mocking his potential foe for insisting on the rehydration clause.

"'Please Mr Brook, don't rehydrate and hurt me.' This DIVA still thinks he's a celebrity and in the jungle rationing what I can eat," Brook said. "I'll weigh in at 147 and then eat whatever I like. #Khanivore #TooShookForBrook"

But now Khan has reacted back on social media, citing a story on - regarding Rocky Fielding agreeing to a 10 pound rehydration clause to secure a fight with Canelo Alvarez on December 15.

And he also mentioned that Brook, as the IBF's welterweight champion, had to take part in a second day weigh-in.

"2nd day weigh In. Brook fought under IBF 10lb rule for few fights. I want the brook fight at 147lbs with a 10lb rehydration limit. All the top fights do it. Give the fans the fight they want," Khan stated.

Brook, who was struggling to make 147, moved up to junior middleweight division earlier this year. He maintains that it wouldn't be a problem to once again make the welterweight limit.

[QUOTE=Jab jab boom;19207591]I don't think either fight should have a rehydration clause but the primary difference is that Canelo is the star of the sport while fielding is a nobody. Khan is not an established ppv star nor does he…

[QUOTE=Adamsc151;19206859]Also Khan seems to be comparing his profile to that of Canelo in this situation.... deluded, much? lol. The only thing Khan has in common with Canelo is a certain highlight-reel right cross - which he probably only recalls thanks…
