Britain's Amir Khan says it's his head, not his heart, that will put him back on the path to boxing's summit when he takes on unbeaten American Carlos Molina in December. "We know we have to win the fight, not only win it but win it in good style," Khan said Tuesday at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, where he and Molina will face off in a light welterweight bout on December 15.

Former Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan (Left) and undefeated super lightweight contender Carlos Molina (Right) pose on October 30, 2012 in Los Angeles, California at a press conference to officially announce their December 15, 2012 fight at the Los Angeles Sports Arena which will be televised live on SHOWTIME in the United States and live on Sky Sports 1HD in the United Kingdom.

British boxer Amir Khan believes fighters would be wrong to dismiss his ability as he looks to recover from consecutive defeats. The 25-year-old will face Carlos Molina in Los Angeles on December 15 following losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia and, although Khan will not under-estimate his unbeaten American opponent, knows he needs to win to silence his critics. He said: "When the fight was put to Carlos Molina he jumped at the fight because a lot of fighters will now think Amir Khan's confidence will not be the same.

Amir Khan’s new trainer Virgil Hunter has told WBN that a domestic battle between the former unified light-welterweight champion and the returning Ricky Hatton is a possibility in the future. Hunter, who also trains super-middleweight king Andre Ward, takes the reigns from Freddie Roach in December for Khan’s first fight since his crushing loss to Danny Garcia in the summer as the Bolton man faces Carlos Molina in California. The current Trainer of the Year was sought out by Khan following his arduous split from Roach and Hunter believes he has pin-pointed some of Khan’s wrongdoings, which have led to back-to-back defeats for the Briton.

By Jake Donovan Less than a year ago, Amir Khan was regarded by many as the best super lightweight on the planet. Today, the 25-year old finds his career on the verge of red alert status. Back-to-back losses coupled with a lengthy delay in between makes it long ago since Khan’s arm was raised in victory. His 5th round knockout win over Zab Judah last July looks better in retrospect, but hardly erases what has followed. A disputed points loss to Lamont Peterson late last year was followed up by a disastrous knockout at the hands of unbeaten Danny Garcia this past July. The showdown with Garcia was a welcomed alternative to his planned rematch with Peterson, which was canceled after the American tested positive for synthetic testosterone. Two losses later, Khan is ready to resume his winning ways, which he hopes will come in his December 15 showdown with unbeaten Carlos Molina at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California. Significant changes were made in Khan’s camp, including replacing head trainer Freddie Roach in favor of Virgil Hunter. Roach is a five-time Trainer of the Year recipient and recent inductee into the Boxing Hall of Fame. However, Khan felt it was time to part ways, opting to go with red-hot Hunter, the most recent Trainer of the Year honoree in large part due to his success with unbeaten Andre Ward. "It hasn’t been a good year but I’ll come back,” Khan (26-3, 18KO) acknowledged during Tuesday’s press conference in London.

For undefeated lightweight prospect Carlos Molina 17-0-1 (7KOs), accepting a fight against former two-time world champion and international boxing superstar Amir Khan was a no brainer. Having fought most of his career a few pounds south of the division that Khan once conquered, Molina knows the task ahead will be huge for his career.

Amir "King" Khan's next fight on December 15th, against undefeated Carlos Molina, has been officially announced to take place at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California. The fight will be televised live on SHOWTIME in the United States and live on Sky Sports 1HD in the United Kingdom at 1:00 a.m. GMT on December 16.
