Kell Brook has no problem with a potential battle with fellow former world champion Liam Smith.
Brook has been inactive since December 2018, when he struggled at times at win a tough decision over Michael Zerafa.
Brook is back on Saturday night, when he faces once-beaten Mark DeLuca in a junior middleweight scrap from Sheffield’s FlyDSA Arena.
Smith, a former WBO junior middleweight champion, has been calling or a showdown with Brook.
Both boxers are promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport.
Brook wants to fight a world champion - but if they place the right money on the table - then he's is ready and willing to face Smith.
“I’m interested in any light middleweight,” Brook told The Mirror. “If they’ve got a belt, even if they think they’re the hardest in the division, I can beat all of them.
“Liam Smith hasn’t got a belt, but I can get excited about that fight. If they pay me seven figures for the fight, I’ll take that fight. I know he would be up for it. I’ve got huge respect for the Smith family and that is definitely a fight I’d be interested in. I could do welterweight again for the right fight and I want to be a two-time world champion this year.”
At the same time, Brook is not overlooking the task at hand.
“I expect DeLuca to be as fit as hell,” said Brook. “I expect him to come and try and cause me problems. Whatever he brings, I’ll have an answer for. I’m very fit, I’m very strong and I’m, very clever and when I land on him, it won’t be good for him.
“He’s tough, he’s an ex-Marine, he’s obviously into his fitness. He’s very determined. He knows this is a chance to make a name for himself. He’s going to give it his all. I need to listen to game plan from Dominic and then it’s just about getting in there and executing it.”
