In Friday’s episode of “Deep Waters” on ProBox TV, analyst Chris Algieri talked about fighter finances and how training, travel and taxes, among other expenses, significantly drain the actual take-home figure for athletes in the sport. Algieri, a former junior welterweight titleholder, says he was “terrified” at the numbers in his bank account when he finally began making money in boxing but learned to enlist help.

I've heard of promoters like Don King taking a 30% cut as the promoter, making sure his fighter used one of Don's trainers(Stacey McKinley, etc) for another 10% cut, and then 10% for a manager. Then King would deduct training expenses(sparring partners), travel expenses, hotels, food, fees, etc. He could take a 60% cut of a

I agree, but more realistically a paid off house is mostly important. The rental properties go out the window once these guys see new money. They dont think that far along.
when the money stops flowing the maintenance on a Ferrari or Lambo becomes too much. The trash jewelry they buy only sells back at pennies on the dollar.

a lot of boxers are aiming for financial security before their career runs out, not sure what that means but a paid off house and a few rental properties would be pretty good going, they are 35 and touch wood have their health and on to new things, happy days if it works out for u that is of course
