WBO # 8 Junior Fa 17-0 (10 KO’s) wasted no time putting his hand up to fight Anthony Joshua after Jarrell Miller lost the fight of a lifetime when failing a doping test.

“I can’t believe Miller has missed this massive opportunity,” stated Fa. “I’m fit and ready to face Joshua! I’m here, right now in the USA sparring WBC heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder.”

While the search continues for a suitable opponent for Joshua, Matchroom and DAZN have already seen several top contenders making themselves unavailable to fight June 1.

“I get it, Matchroom are looking for an American opponent for Anthony’s debut fight in NYC,” said Fa. “But what’s even more shocking than Miller failing his test is all the big names not ready to take a fight with 7 weeks notice.”

Fa continued: “I don’t make excuses and I don’t need 3 months notice like other fighters. I’m ready to go now! I’ve fought in the USA three times. I’m undefeated, world rated and carry two wins in the amateurs over Joseph Parker plus I have an iconic New Yorker as my promoter in Lou DiBella. Mr Hearn give Lou a call!”

I asked the manager of DiBella Entertainment’s Asia Pacific region Brendan Bourke his thoughts on the potential bout and he had the following to say: “DAZN in particular want an American opponent, we understand that but potential opponents seem to be knocking back the fight at an ever increasing rate. If more top rated fighters say no then Junior Fa is ready! He’s sparring Wilder right now. I’d like to say Junior's trainer Doug Viney and manager Mark Keddell need a special mention here as they have Junior ready in peak condition all year round.”

Junior Fa concluded “End of the day Joshua is the guy I’m targeting. It doesn’t matter if it’s June 1 or sometime next year. I’ve sparred many rounds with Anthony, and his team know I’m a dangerous mobile heavyweight puncher and that’s probably not what they're looking for right now considering he’s been training for a basic walk up fighter.”
