The weights are in for Sauerland Event's big card from Hamburg, Germany

Fans can look forward to a big night of fist fighting on April 27! The contestants of the two main attractions and their teams exude optimism before their respective fights at the Sporthalle Hamburg, Germany this Saturday. Jürgen Brähmer (39-2, 30 KOs), European Light Heavyweight Champion: “I am physically and mentally at the height of my ability. I am not thinking about Nathan Cleverly and the WBO World Championship. My focus is completely on my current challenge and that is Tony Averlant!” Tony Averlant (18-7-2, 4 KOs): “I feel as if I am at the top of my game. I am serious about when I say that I will be the new European Light Heavyweight Champion come Saturday night!”

The tension keeps building. The European Light Heavyweight Title clash between Juergen Braehmer (39-2, 30 KOs) and Tony Averlant (18-7-2, 4 KOs) is just days away. Before the pair steps into the ring at the Sporthalle Hamburg, Germany this Saturday, they met during today's public workout. However, both contestants were keen on not giving away too much and kept the fans guessing in what kind of shape they are in. Averlant and his coach Cyril Thomas started of their training session with some shadowboxing followed by rope skipping. The 29-year-old challenger only arrived in Hamburg this morning and wasn't willing to put too much on display as Karsten Roewer, who trains with Braehmer, was just inches away following the spectacle inside the ring. Although the Frenchman wasn't that active during the public workout, he promised that it will be a whole different story come Saturday night. "The sheer amount of my punches will make the difference. I will be victorious," said Averlant."

Juergen Braehmer (39-2, 30 KOs) expects a brutal challenge. The 34-year-old will defend his newly won European Light Heavyweight Championship on April 27. The German takes on Tony Averlant (18-7-2, 4 KOs), a real warrior inside the ring, at the Sporthalle Hamburg, Germany and not only risks his belt but also the position as WBO mandatory challenger. As Braehmer held the title of the World Boxing Organization in the past, his motivation to regain his beloved crown is immense. Therefore, it comes as a surprise that he is willing to risk it all in a fight that will be anything but a walk in the park.

Another highlight awaits in Hamburg on April 27. Before Juergen Braehmer (39-2, 30 KOs) defends his European Light Heavyweight Championship against Tony Averlant (18-7-2, 4 KOs) the eyes of the spectators in the arena will be firmly pointed on another boxer. Cruiserweight Firat Arslan (32-6-2, 21 KOs) will give his debut as a member of Team Sauerland. His first fight under his new promotional banner will see him take on Varol Vekiloglu (20-4-1, 12 KOs) and he does not just want to walk away with a convincing victory but also put himself in a position for a crack at a world championship. “I am very happy to be working with Team Sauerland,” said the former WBA World Champion. “I believe that this partnership will get me a step closer to world title.” The last time the man from southern Germany fought for a cruiserweight championship was on November 3 against current WBO Titlist Marco Huck. “Everyone who saw the fight is entitled to his own opinion,” said Arslan. “I am not the kind of person who dwells on the past. My sight is totally focused on the future and I am hoping to get a rematch against Huck.”

The Sporthalle Hamburg, Germany will once again turn into a huge boxing venue come April 27. European Light Heavyweight Champion Juergen Braehmer (39-2, 30 KOs) and local hero Jack Culcay (14-0, 10 KOs) are planning to revive the enthusiasm for the sport in northern Germany. Braehmer took the EBU-Title of Eduard Gutknecht on February 2. The former WBO-Champion came out on top after twelve exciting rounds at the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany. After the successful title challenge the 34-year-old has laid the path for another run at a world championship.

Nathan Cleverly is hoping to finally secure a date with Juergen Braehmer after he deals with Robin Krasniqi next month. The Welshman makes the next defence of his WBO light-heavyweight title against Krasniqi on March 16, an assignment he expects to pass without any hitches. But he is already targeting Braehmer, who he was supposed to fight in 2010 when the German held the title.

British light heavyweight Tony Bellew, 19-1, has been nominated as official challenger for EBU light heavyweight champ Juergen Braehmer, 39-2. There´s now a period for negotiations before the EBU calls for purse bids. Both men have their eyes on world titles though and Braehmer also won a WBO eliminator when he beat Eduard Gutknecht and won the EBU title. Bellew, the WBC's silver champion, is facing Isaac Chilemba in a final WBC eliminator on March 30th at Echo Arena in Liverpool. The Bellew-Chilemba winner is expected to face full WBC champion Chad Dawson.

23-year old British cruiserweight Deion Jumah (1-0, 1 KO) made a devastating professional debut, knocking out Lithuanian Ruslan Bitarov (now 2-6-1, 2 KOs) with a single left hook to the liver with seconds remaining in the first round. Jumah (22-1, 13 KOs as an amateur), an alumnus of the famous Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club and a two-time ABAE champion, will be back in a week against Ukrainian trialhorse Igor Pylipenko (3-12-2) in Denmark.

The official weigh-in is over in Berlin for tomorrow’s show at the Max-Schmeling-Halle, Berlin, Germany: The main event will feature a championship battle between Juergen Braehmer and Eduard Gutknecht.
