Juan Francisco Estrada: record, next fight and profile →
Mexico's Juan Francisco Estrada has acknowledged the public outcry over Saturday's scoring in his rematch with Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. In an all-action fight, Estrada won a twelve round split decision to unify the WBA, WBC super flyweight titles.
A Florida boxing judge is being held accountable for creating a Texas-sized mess. The World Boxing Association (WBA) has officially placed veteran ring official Carlos Sucre on temporary suspension less than a day after his role as a ringside official for the memorable rematch between Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. Mexico’s Estrada prevailed by split decision to retain his lineal and WBC junior bantamweight titles for the third time while annexing the WBA strap from Gonzalez in their 12-round scorcher Saturday evening at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Juan Francisco Estrada admits he wasn’t sure what Michael Buffer would announce as he read the scores Saturday night. Estrada doesn’t think Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez did enough to beat him in their 12-round, 115-pound title unification fight. The WBA/WBC super flyweight champion wouldn’t have been surprised, though, if their back-and-forth fight would’ve resulted in a draw.
