On April 11th Joe Joyce (10-0) and Daniel Dubois (15-0) will meet in a heavyweight clash at the O2 Arena in London.
The all British showdown is a huge fight both domestically and internationally. It will headline a BT Box Office Sports pay-per-view in the United Kingdom and in the United States it likely will be streamed live on ESPN+.
At stake will be the British heavyweight title and the vacant EBU European heavyweight title. Besides all of the hardware, the winner will emerge as a contender and will be on the brink of a world title shot.
"I think domestically the British fans are really excited for it. It is a great fight. There are a lot of belts on the line, titles on the line to win so there is a big incentive for me to beat Dubois on this stage. Whoever goes on will be directly in line for a world title shot so I am putting everything on the line here and I am training diligently to get the win," Joyce recently told BoxingScene.com.
Heavyweight boxing in the UK is on fire at the moment with all 4 of the major sanctioning bodies titles held by British fighters. Anthony Joshua has the WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF titles while Tyson Fury possesses the WBC strap.
Joyce and Dubois are part of the next wave of fighters coming up who are trying to make the transition from prospect to contender.
"It is very exciting. Obviously the British boxing scene has plenty of heavyweights coming through so there are loads of great fights to be made and I will be just in touching distance of a world title after this fight," Joyce stated.
